Overseer Shabti of Iset-?
M14015
Information
An ‘overseer’ shabti wearing the short sleeved tunic and projecting triangular shaped apron of daily life. The head wears a plain bipartite or duplex wig with a seshed headband tied at the back added in black. Strands from the headband fall down the back of the figure and reach down to the ankles. The left arm hangs down by the side of the body, and the right arm is folded above the waist and carries a whip added in black. The face is simply defined and has the eyes with brows added in black. The lower legs and feet are indicated in the modelling. The shabti is very deep in profile. A vertical column of inscription is painted on the front of the apron, feet and legs. Although rather difficult to read with any degree of certainty the start of the owner’s named is perhaps Iset–?.
Transliteration and translation of the inscription: Wsir As.t-?, “The Osiris, Iset–?”.
