Information
The development of affordable and portable cameras and the acceptance of photography as an art form had a big impact on advertising. For this poster, the unknown artist used a photographic montage of images depicting the attractive sights of the 'Ideal Sunshine Tour'.
Reina del Pacifico was the largest vessel of her time in the fleet of the Pacific Steam Navigation Company. As a passenger ship she operated on the Liverpool - West Coast of South America service and was known for providing a new standard of luxury accommodation. Rooms and public spaces were decorated in Spanish- Colonial or Moresque styles, referring to its Latin American destinations.
During the Second World War she was taken up for trooping service and took a part in the landings in North Africa, Sicily and Normandy.
