Paddle

A hoe (canoe paddle) with a manaia (beaked) head carved at the junction of the blade and the shaft, and a plain openwork manaia head at the end of the handle. The surface pattern on the former manaia head is taratara-a-kai (zigzag notched lines). The carving is worn smooth with use.
