Paris

Chowne travelled extensively throughout out his life, visiting France, Spain and Greece. He probably sketched this view of Paris during one of his trips to France in late Autumn or Winter. The large central tree is stripped of its leaves and the figures are dressed in warm coats and hats. However, Chowne has used red and brown tones in the work, which helps create a sense of warmth.
