Information
Bromley was taught by his father, an engraver, and in 1867 was elected an associate of the Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He was also a member of the Society of British Artists and acted as an art correspondent for the 'Illustrated London News'. He worked regularly as an illustrator and produced an important series of illustrations of Shakespeare's works (for the publishers Cassell, Petter and Galpin) and the Bible (for the 'London Illustrated News').
