Penannular arm ring, lozenge-shaped cross section

MLL.2007.5.21

Information

Rod arm-ring, penannular, with punched ornament, formed from a rod of lozenge-shaped cross-section tapering to flat ends. Complete, though bent into a figure-of-eight loop; towards one terminal there is a twist to the hoop, presumably caused by being held in a pliers during the bending process. The ornament, consisting of opposed and interlocking impressions formed with a stamp featuring a lozenge atop a shallow triangle, results in a continuous zig-zag along both of its outer two faces; both elements of the stamped motif contain minute pellets. Discovered as part of the Huxley Hoard. Width c. 8mm (min) - 32mm (max) Height c. 12mm (min) - 16mm (max) Thickness 7mm
