Information

Etruscan hand-mirror with modern engraving. : Small hand-mirror with handle cast in one piece (with stylized doe’s-head terminal), has small, rather convex disc, its reverse now deeply and harshly engraved with a modern version of a combat scene with five figures, three combatants, one dead body, one seated, perhaps /mourning, draped figure. The surface condition leaves no doubt that the modern forger cut through ancient patina with a coarse blade.
