Pestle

Pebble probably used to crush and grind pigment for cosmetics. Not marked by the excavator with the grave number but recorded in the register as being from cemetery H. Excavated in Petrie's Predynastic cemetery H near the modern village of Semaina which was recorded by Mr Mace and Mr Iles and which Petrie described as being "a prehistoric cemetery of the later period" ('Diospolis Parva' p.32)
