Photograph album; King's Regiment inspection by Queen Elizabeth II

Following the death of her father King George IV on February 6 1952 Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, aged just 25, was crowned Queen of the United Kingdom in 1953. Less than a year after her Coronation, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Liverpool on October 21 1954, to inspect the Guard of Honour of the King's Liverpool Regiment 5th Battalion. The regiment proudly lined the Royal route leading to the Town Hall on Castle Street and Dale Street. The Queen's Colour was carried by Lt. G.E. Roberts while the Commanding Officer, Major W.H. Healing T.D. escorted the Queen during her inspection. The King's Regiment is one of Britain's oldest regiments, created in 1685 and Liverpool's regiment since 1881.
