Black leather-bound photograph album titled "Vistas y Monumentos de Lima", dated ca. 1865. Photographer uknown. Contains 26 albumen prints, with Spanish captions written in pencil. Images primarily document guano mining on the Chincha Islands off the coast of Peru during the mid-19th century. Of particular interest are the photographs of Chinese indentured labourers. Several similar photographs of the same sites were published in "Rays of Sunlight from South America, with 68 of the 70 original plates of Lima, Peru and the Chincha Islands", by Alexander Gardner and Henry deWitt Moulton.
