Originally known as 'The Slopes' 'Darley Dene' was built and occupied by Mr Thomas Monk, of the firm of Monk and Newell, Contractors, who were responsible for the construction of the Great Float Docks and the Seacombe Ferry Approaches of 1876. Copyright unknown (no stamp)
