Silver gelatin print by W. E. Williams, ca. 1940s. Image originally titled "Fuzzy Wuzzy". The term was coined by the author Rudyard Kipling in a poem included in "Barrack-Room Ballads and Other Verses", published in 1892, and refers to the Hadendoa warriors' elaborate hair styles.
