Sample of colour found at Amarna. It is what the collector Flaxman Spurrell referred to as "crude red colours: haematites and clays" and numbered it R' ("earthy clay"), in reference to his 1895 experiments with colours from ancient Egypt. Sealed within two circular concave pieces of glass (watch glass) with a paper label annotated, "TELL EL AMARNA D.XVIII".
