Information

Sample of dried yellow paint scraped from the inside of a pot found at Amarna. It is what the collector Flaxman Spurrell referred to as "prepared paints", in reference to his 1895 experiments with colours from ancient Egypt. Sealed within two circular concave pieces of glass (watch glass) with a paper label annotated, "TEL EL AMARNA D.XVIII Ochre" and a green label annotated "Bottom of a pot".
