Pigment

Sample of dried white paint scraped from the inside of a pot found at Amarna. It is what the collector Flaxman Spurrell referred to as "prepared paints" in reference to his 1895 experiments with colours from ancient Egypt. Originally sealed within two circular concave pieces of glass (watch glass). Removed in 1977 and displayed within a sealed acrylic cube for exhibition.
