Pigment

Sample of dried blue paint scraped from the inside of a pot found at Amarna. It is what the collector Flaxman Spurrell referred to as "prepared paints", in reference to his 1895 experiments with colours from ancient Egypt. Sealed within a flat glass tube with a paper label annotated, "CHESSYLITE Coarse".
