Middleditch was interested in attempting to capture the elements in his art. This is potentially what he is wishes to do in this fairly abstract drawing. He was originally associated with the hyper-realist Kitchen Sink school of painters, but increasingly turned to abstract and stylised depictions of the natural world, examining water, light, foliage and feathers.
