Information

Round plaque of very thin gold foil, worked in repoussé technique with a small Gorgon face with wavy windblown hair, set in a circular tondo within a wide border of floral pattern. The stylized flowers have long, pointed petals and raised, rounded centers. One short segment of the edge below the head is chipped, and the relief is badly dented overall. Four sets of two holes for sewing onto a backing each are evenly spaced around the circumference (one set chipped away). The foil of this plaque is so fragile that it can only have been destined for funerary use.
