Forgery of an ancient Egyptian antiquity acquired by William Birkbeck. Mould made ceramic plaque with two registers. Top register includes the throne name of Tuthmosis III (Menkheperre) within a cartouche. Below is a scene showing a kneeling person making an offering of a bird to a seated figure. At the top is a 'cavetto'-cornice with the palm-fronds marked in fine lines; the inscribed area is surrounded on top and sides by a plain torus-moulding. Purchased in Alexandria by William Abbott Herdman. There is an identical forgery (probably made from the same mould) in Derby Museum and Art Gallery, UK. 

CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, corner missing, running cracks around the edges, worn, pitted, surface dirt, label adhered to surface.
