Plate with stand

Plate with broad flat rim, base unglazed: drawn in blue of fine quality with a shield of arms, with helmet and crest, in a medallion surrounded by foliage. On the sides and on the rim are foliage scrolls. Border of small flowers. An early example of Chinese armorial porcelain. The bearings – seven hares and an inescutcheon with rampant lion – are evidently drawn by a hand unfamiliar with Portuguese or Dutch models.
