Information

Heavily-built lizard with triangular head, an arc of spines around the neck, adults have a loose, beard-like pouch on the throat fringed with long spines. The body is flattened with a relatively short tail with a series of spines on either side of the base, there are also spines along the flanks. Colour varies from dark brown to pale grey with pale blotches on either side of the back sometimes forming two stripes. Length up to 60 cm.
