Pope Leo X Blessing King Francis I of France

This is a drawing for the painting in the ceiling of the Sala di Leone X in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. It depicts the meeting of Pope X and King Francis I that took place in Bologna in 1515. There are a number of significant variations from the painting: Francis I wears a crown, his legs are uncovered below the knee. There is also a drawing in the Louvre which is not as detailed.
