Portrait of a Man

This portrait was formerly identified as Henry Gratton (1746 - 1820), which may have been a mistake for Henry Gritten, a brother-in-law of the artist. Comparison with a stipple engraving of Gratton by P. Roberts after P. Fitzpatrick, published by H. Smith in 1797, reveals that this initial identification was impossible.
