Portrait of a Man

This could be a portrait of the merchant Mr Feine. There is another drawing WAG 8994 in the Walker Art Gallery collection simply entitled 'Portrait of a Woman' by the same artist. The inscriptions on the mount and back of WAG 8994, indicate that it is a portrait of Mrs Freine, the merchant's wife. It is possible that it is a companion portrait as both portraits are drawn in a similar style and composition.
