A framed portrait of Chogyal Thutob Namgyal (1860-1914). He is sitting face sideways on (to hide a hare-lip), the mouth area has also been painted over. He is wearing a Tibetan style silk brocade robe with long sleeves and three British India insignia. He wears a Tibetan style summer hat with silk fringing, a large finial and a large tassle, extending beyond the neck. He is seated on a European-style chair, that is placed on a tiger rug, in front of a photography studio painted backdrop. The portrait is signed and dated.
