Information

During the AIDS crisis in the 1980s a lack of information caused mass paranoia about how HIV/AIDS could be transmitted. In response many people chose sexual abstinence to protect themselves, whilst others would not share cigarettes, pints, or even cups of tea without fear of infection. As research progressed and the means of transmission was slowly understood, education was needed to show that it was possible to enjoy a healthy sex life and remain safe, as long as certain precautions were put in place. This flyer was designed by local artist Andrew Dineley for the Liverpool Health promotion Service in 1997 and was distributed freely to promote safer sex in the city. Kindly donated by Andrew Dineley in 2015.
