Silver gelatin postcard by "M.C." Profile view of the four-masted barque Holt Hill, W. Price & Co., Liverpool, berthed in an unidentified port. The vessel, captained by George Sutherland, was wrecked on 13 November 1889 whilst en route from Rio de Janeiro to Calcutta. The surviving crew were shipwrecked for eight days on the island of St Paul, in the Indian Ocean, before being rescued by the barque Coorong and brought to Adelaide, Australia. Among the survivors of the wreck was Charles Herbert Lightoller, then a young apprentice, who would go on to survive the sinking of the Titanic.
