Pottery ring shaped stand to support a jar.  White slip on the surface. Marked in ink "Buhen 1963-64 No 9". From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. 


CONDITION NOTE (1998): Previously repaired, chipped around break edges, adhesive on surface around joins, chipped, concretions, black marks on surface, surface dirt.
