Potstand

Pottery ring shaped stand to support a jar. Cream/grey slip on the surface. Marked in ink "Buhen 1963-64 No 14". From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Previously repaired with area of loss, chipped around break edges, pitted, adhesive on surface around joins, surface is flaking in places, white residue (plaster?).
