Pottery; Storage vessel sherd

A body sherd of a medieval storage vessel with a large built-up spigot-hole. The vessel is made of a fairly soft thick sandy, white fabric, greying under green tinged brown glaze on the exterior. The spigot has a frilled decorative surround with a fragment of an applied strip attached. The fragment was found on the shore at Meols. Meols archive no. 4141, Meols catalogue number 3448, (Griffiths, D; Philpott, R; Egan, G, 2007).
