Pounding or polishing stone in black and white speckled porphry diorite. Auction sticker stuck to the surface. Sticker with black handwriting "Abydos". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Worn, surface dirt, label adhered to surface. Purchased by Mr Wilkes for Sir Henry Wellcome at Sotheby's London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor collection) Lot 1100/4: "Four others [Draughtsmen and Mullers], in black and white speckled granite, one of four sided shape, slightly rounded at the corners".
