The Prison, or Carceri

Wedgwood studied at Liverpool School of Art (1919 - 1921) and the Royal College of Art. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome in Engraving in 1925 which gave him a scholarship to study in Italy. He returned to Britian in 1929. He taught at the Liverpool Institute and the Liverpool School of Art in the 1930s. Liverpool University holds a large collection of prints by Wedgwood, the majority of which were collected by Sydney Jones, Wedgwood's patron and major benefactor of Liverpool University.
