Profile of the 18th Dynasty pharaoh, Akhenaten. This is a plaster cast copy of an object in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. Discovered by the Egypt Exploration Society within the temple kiosk of the Maru Aten during the 1921-2 season directed by the English Egyptologist T. Eric Peet.
Between 1920 and 1933 Peet was Brunner Professor of Egyptology at the University of Liverpool. Whilst in Liverpool he catalogued World Museum's Egyptian collection and completed a gallery handbook and guide (a project started by his predecessor, Percy Newberry) and redesigned the Egyptian displays in the Museum's Main Hall at about 1932.
