MOL.2019.20

Information

This commemorative fork and spoon (knife missing) for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was a gift from Harry Robinson to celebrate the birth of his nephew, Michael Philip Rowan on June 2 1953. Michael was the first baby to be born in Liverpool just after midnight on the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, at his home in Fonthill Road, Kirkdale. The media coverage by the BBC was a ground breaking moment for broadcasting. Filmed in colour, this was the first ever royal coronation to be televised and for millions of people, the first time they have watched such an historic event in their homes.
