Robustly built with relatively short hind limbs. Extremely variable in colour, can be grey, brown, pink, olive or yellow above usually with dark blotches and often an A-shaped mark between the shoulders, scattered black spots frequently appear on the back. Flanks usually spotted or marbled, underside white, yellow, or even orange, spotted or speckled with darker pigment.
