Information

Female hand made figurine, called a 'phi figurine' because of the similarity of the figurine's shape to the Greek letter φ (phi). The figurine has a splayed foot base, and the upper body is represented in a circle with breasts on it. The head is long and schematically represented, pointed in the middle with a long nose and two dark dots for the eyes. The woman seems to wear a conical shaped hat on the head. Dark curved stripes decorate the circular upper body, the overall clay is buff. Much of the overall decoration has faded. Figurines of these shape were often found in tombs and sanctuaries.
