Religious Figure

Many objects appear undamaged by the Blitz, but large groups of objects lost things that are not obvious. More than 10 years after the Blitz this wooden female figure from Southeastern Nigeria was given a new identification number. Its original number had been lost in the confusion after the Blitz. Without its number the museum’s curators could no longer connect it to the information that recorded who had donated the object and when. This figure, like so many others, lost its memory in the Blitz.
