Bone altar ornament consisting of a hollow cylinder, standing on a square base with four legs. Green inlay and carved decoration. Now come loose from the base is the top part which has a cross like appearance which is now missing a cross-shaped finial. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 95210. Purchased for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by Mr Comins on behalf of Henry Wellcome at Stevens's Auction Rooms, London, 19-20 August 1930 lot 286 "...an early Coptic altar ornament, inlaid with turquoise, from the Gruneisen collection".
