Religious Figure / Historical Buddha

Bronze statue of Amitabha or Historical Buddha. Buddha shown seated in yogic, meditational pose with right hand, palm down, shown in earth-witnessing or bhumisparsa mudra. Left hand holds vessel. Buddha's robe with details of floral border and complex pleating and folding at left shoulder. Holes to front, neck and back suggesting figure once wore jewellery, earlobes also have circular holes as opposed to elongated holes suggesting earrings once in place. Hair has been left without gilt , however there is a small amount of red pigment at left ear, which suggests he is Amitabha. Base is open and in Nepalese style openwork. Two holes to back of base where nimbus would have been inserted.
