Religious Figure / Lama

A portrait sculpture of a Lama seated in the meditational position on a double mattress, which is covered with a rug that has a deep border. The lama has a shaven head, put appears to have a moustache. He wears the robes of a mendicant monk, made from many scraps of cloth. He holds his right hand up near his chest in the teaching mudra and his left hand rests in his lap, holding a bowl. The base is covered with a copper plate that is still in place, this is decorated with a double dorje, which is painted in gilt.
