Information
Bronze statue of steated Maitreya. He is seated in the yogic or meditational pose, both of his upturned feet decorated with open lotus flowers studded with coral. His hands are in the dharmachakra mudra, the sign of the Buddhist teachings. He wears the crown and ornaments of the Bodhisattva, he is very nicely detailed with jewellery including ties to his back. There is still gilt on his tied up hair and on the inside of the crown. Possibly made in Eastern Tibet showing provincial style. The base is open and the contents have been removed.
