Information
A Chinese or Sino-Tibetan standing gilt bronze statue of Padmapani. He is known as the Lotus carrier, a form of Avalokiteshvara. His left hand is raised to his heart in the mudra of varada, the gesture of charity and his right hand palm facing is lowered in the gesture of generosity. Above his shoulders are elaborately opened lotus. He wears the crown and the ornaments of the Bodhisattva. He stands on a single lotus pedestal. His hands are disproportionately large compared to the rest of his body. The figure has been fixed in place the wrong way round on its base, so the undecorated part of the base faces forward.
