Replanning Schemes for Liverpool: Replanning Scheme for Pier Head, Liverpool

WAG 1996.12

Information

This drawing is one of a number of imaginative schemes drawn by Stanley Davenport Adshead (1868-1946) to illustrate how Liverpool might be re-planned to enhance its appearance and improve its layout. He used the drawings to illustrate his article on the topic for The Town Planning Review in July 1910. Central to the scheme was the development of the waterfront from the Pier Head to Waterlook Dock and the construction of a new road from St George’s Hall to Prince’s Dock, shifting the city centre north along the river.
