MOL.2014.131.1

Information

This ribbon was one of many handed out to people attending the Transgender Day of Remembrance commemorations at the Museum of Liverpool, 20 November 2014 as part of a city wide commemoration event. On the day there was a wreath laying ceremony in the exhibition, April Ashley: Portrait of a Lady where wreaths from National Museums Liverpool (NML), the trans community and Merseyside Police were laid. Representatives from NML, Armistead Centre, Merseyside Police, Transforum, Homotopia and Trans-Chester then joined visitors and staff in the Museum in sharing a minute’s silence to remember those who have been killed because of transphobia. After the silence there was a panel discussion led by representatives from Homotopia, Merseyside Police and the local trans community.
