Information

Astris was the third stage of the Europa rocket designed to launch satellites in orbit around the Earth. This example, which was built in Germany, was one of the prototype engines and was tested on the ground but not launched into space. The first stage was provided by the British Blue Streak rocket which worked well but after a series of second and third stage failures confidence in the project waned and Britain withdrew in 1969.
