Rouleau vase

Vase, one of a pair (to LL 6745), of rouleau form, with straight neck and spreading lip; painted in famille verte enamels with a design of prunus, pine and bamboo twisted into the forms of the Chinese characters shou, fu and lu (Longevity, Happiness and Rank) on a ground of chrysanthemum scrollwork. On the shoulders, four medallions with seal characters, on netted ground, broken by chrysanthemum flowers. On the neck, floral scroll with large red blossoms; borders of key fret, curled scrolls, ju-i (ruyi 'as-you-wish') heads, washed over with green. Slight raised rib on neck.
