Safflower, Carthamus tinctoria. Collected at the pyramid town of Lahun by W. M. Flinders Petrie, 1889-90. Kept within a glass test tube with cork stopper.Annotation in black on the cork by Percy Newberry: "Centaury sd. Kahun XII". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Surface dirt, some fragmenting?
