Sailors' Home sign, Canning Place, Liverpool
MMM.2004.113
Information
This metal and enamel sign advertised the Sailors’ Home, Canning Place to visiting seafarers from around the world. The Home provided a safe place for seafarers to stay while in port.
Sailor, John Freestone, first came to Liverpool with a cargo of raw sugar from Australia in 1960. He acquired the sign which had originally been on a wall. He kindly donated it in 2004.
