Sarcophagus

Child's sarcophagus made from marble from Luna (central Italy). In the centre, portrait bust of a boy framed by three garlands, flanked by winged Cupids personifying Spring (at left) and Summer (at right). In corners, the Dioscuri with horses. The sarcophagus and lid were purchased by Blundell in Rome from the sculptor and dealer Bartolomeo Cavaceppi.
