Information

The rightt end of an oval strigilated sarcophagus. A lion springs forward left and attachs a horse overthrown on the ground. The horse wears a band around its belly with an rich ornament and has a smaller collar band round its neck. The band has a half moon amulet on it. In the background a yound man looks in terror. He wears a cloak and has his right hand raised in surprise. In his left hand he has a hunting spear with a barbed point, Blundell in his Account recorded that the sarcophagus end was found in Smyrna. The moulidng at the front is a restoration and a strip at each side. There are also restorations on the paws of the lion and the face of the lion has been joined on.
